Intertek
Intertek's Boxborough, Massachusetts facility is one of the largest laboratories in the company's global network of over 1,000 labs, and serves as a major hub for EMC and electrical product safety testing in North America. Located at 70 Codman Hill Road, the lab offers a broad range of services spanning EMC, product safety, wireless, performance, and environmental testing. The EMC capabilities at Boxborough are extensive. The facility houses a 10-meter fully automated EMC chamber — the only one at an independent test lab in New England — as well as a 5-meter chamber optimized for high-field-strength radiated immunity testing up to 600 V/m, and two compact 3-meter radiated immunity chambers. Testing covers FCC, CISPR, Industry Canada, VCCI, Australia/New Zealand (ACA), Taiwan (BSMI), Russia (GOST-R/EAC), and NEBS standards. The lab is accredited by A2LA and registered with the FCC, Industry Canada, and VCCI. Both 50 Hz and 60 Hz power are available across a range of single-phase and three-phase configurations. A particular strength of the Boxborough lab is medical device testing. It was the first laboratory in North America to receive IECEE accreditation for EMC testing to the IEC 60601-1-2 4th Edition standard, and the first independent lab in North America accredited for end-to-end electrical safety and EMC evaluation of both implantable and non-implantable medical devices. The lab also draws on its experience with military and aerospace testing to MIL-STD-461, which gives it the amplifier equipment needed for the elevated immunity levels required under the latest medical EMC standards. Additional capabilities at the facility include wireless and radio device regulatory testing, environmental simulation (shock up to 30,000g, dust ingress to IEC 60529 and MIL-STD-810), and performance testing to national, international, industry, and retailer specifications.

Testing Services
Note: Packaging Compliance Labs / Quest Engineering Solutions is not an EMC test laboratory. This entry is included as a related testing resource given the facility's broad environmental, mechanical, and package testing capabilities that often complement EMC compliance programs. Packaging Compliance Labs, operating under the former Quest Engineering Solutions brand at 10 Cook Street, Billerica, Massachusetts, is a highly accredited testing laboratory with over 30 years of experience specializing in mechanical, environmental, and package testing services. The 10,000 sq ft facility is equipped with modern environmental chambers, electrodynamic and hydraulic vibration tables, shock test equipment, and a large hemi-anechoic chamber. Quest Engineering Solutions was acquired by Packaging Compliance Labs in 2025, which focuses on packaging design, package testing, and contract packaging for medical device and commercial manufacturers. Testing services include package testing (drop, compression, vibration, shock), ISTA package testing (including ISTA 6 for Amazon APASS and Walmart Marketplace compliance), ISTA 7D cold chain testing, medical package integrity testing and validation, temperature and humidity testing, thermal shock, accelerated aging, altitude testing, combined altitude and vibration testing, salt spray, ingress protection (IP) testing, materials testing (tensile and compression), stress screening, and paper and packaging materials testing. Industries served include pharmaceutical, medical instruments, military and aerospace components, and commercial and consumer products. Expedited testing, test protocol authoring, and reporting services are available for time-critical projects.
