About
CMA Testing, formally the CMA Industrial Development Foundation Limited, was established in 1979 by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and marked its forty-fifth anniversary in 2024; it is one of the territory's longest-established third-party testing, inspection and certification bodies and has grown to twelve locations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. Its head office and principal laboratory are at Fo Tan in Sha Tin, with further laboratories in Shanghai, opened in 2006, and Shenzhen, opened in 2009, plus representative and liaison offices in the United States, Germany and Australia. The accreditation record is long: HOKLAS accreditation under registration number 004, held since 1987, HKIAS accreditation as an inspection body, CNAS accreditation from the China National Accreditation Service since 2008, China Metrology Accreditation awarded to the Shenzhen laboratory in 2011, ISO 37001 anti-bribery certification since 2019, VDE authorisation for mark testing and certification, FCC approval for EMC testing, and appointment by the Japan Toy Association as administrative agent for the ST Mark since 1986. For electrical and electronic products the laboratory covers European requirements including CE marking, the Low Voltage, EMC and Radio Equipment Directives, electromagnetic field exposure, the VDE GS Mark and the IECEE CB Scheme; United States requirements including FCC and California Energy Commission efficiency rules; Canadian RSS and ICES standards; Japanese VCCI; Australian and New Zealand AS/NZS standards; Chinese GB standards; and GCC GSO requirements - a single-window route from a Pearl River Delta manufacturing base into most major markets. Specialisations are consumer electronics and electrical appliances for export, toys and juvenile products, energy efficiency, and multi-market regulatory access.
