About

Compatible Electronics, Inc. (CEI) is an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited and ISO/IEC 17065-accredited testing and certification laboratory founded in 1985 in Brea, California. The company operates three facilities in Southern California: headquarters in Lake Forest, a second lab in Brea (Orange and San Diego County), and a third location in Newbury Park (Ventura County). CEI is NVLAP-accredited (Lab Code 200527-0), holds ANAB accreditation (Accreditation ID 0567) for product certification, is designated by NIST, and is appointed by the FCC as a Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB). The lab is also an ILAC MRA-recognized laboratory and participates in the FDA's Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment (ASCA) program under IDs TL-80, TL-81, and TL-82. EMC testing capabilities cover radiated and conducted emissions, radiated and conducted immunity, ESD, EFT/burst, surge, power frequency magnetic field, harmonic current, and voltage flicker. Standards addressed include CISPR 11, CISPR 32, IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-3-3, and the full IEC 61000-4 immunity series. Medical device EMC testing is conducted to IEC 60601-1-2 and IEC 61326-2-6, with additional medical safety testing covering IEC 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, and numerous IEC 60601-2-series particular standards including cardiac defibrillators, lung ventilators, infusion pumps, surgical equipment, and home healthcare devices. Commercial avionics testing is performed to RTCA DO-160. Regulatory certifications supported include FCC, CE Mark, UKCA, and ISED Canada. Product safety testing spans IEC 60601-1, IEC 60204-1, IEC 60335-1, IEC 61010-1, IEC 62368-1, IEC 61851 (EV charging), and others, with NRTL certification available for medical devices. CEI's staff includes iNARTE-certified EMC engineers and accredited test lab engineers. EMC consulting services include pre-compliance testing, EMC design review, test and control plan development, and regulatory research.
