About

Eurofins MET Laboratories (operating as Eurofins Electrical & Electronics NA) is a full-service product testing, certification, and regulatory compliance organization headquartered at 914 W. Patapsco Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland. Originally established as MET Laboratories, Inc. in 1959, MET became in 1989 the first OSHA-recognized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States, breaking the prior UL monopoly on product safety certification. MET joined the Eurofins Scientific network in 2018 and is now part of Eurofins' global product testing portfolio. MET is approved to certify products in over 200 UL standard categories and provides testing and certification for clients across the US, Europe, and worldwide. EMC testing facilities include 3-meter, 5-meter, and 10-meter semi-anechoic chambers and a reverberation chamber. Accreditations and recognitions include FCC (including TCB status), ISED Canada, A2LA, Australia ACMA, Japan VCCI, Vietnam MIC, Taiwan BSMI, and EU Notified Body for the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). EMC/EMI testing capabilities cover radiated and conducted emissions, radiated and conducted immunity, ESD, transients, EMP, surge, radiated magnetic field immunity, voltage dips and short interruptions, electromagnetic field measurements (EMF), indirect lightning, medical wireless coexistence, shielding effectiveness, and on-site EMC testing and site surveys. Related services include FCC testing and certification, military EMC testing (MIL-STD-461), RTCA/DO-160 aeronautics testing, wireless and RF testing, SAR testing, NEBS testing, energy efficiency testing (DOE, Energy Star), environmental simulation, product safety testing and certification, global market access services covering over 200 countries, and on-site field evaluations. Pre-compliance testing is also offered. All EMC projects are assigned a dedicated lead EMC engineer who manages the project from setup through final report delivery.
