Independent Testing Laboratories is a full-service environmental, mechanical, EMI, and electrical testing lab located in Costa Mesa, California, in Orange County. The lab operates out of a 30,000-square-foot facility conveniently situated about four miles from John Wayne Airport, and specializes in qualification, pre-qualification, engineering, and R&D testing for the aerospace, military, automotive, space, medical, and fitness industries. ITL's core expertise centers on two key standards: RTCA DO-160 for aerospace equipment and MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 for military applications. Their environmental simulation capabilities are extensive, covering temperature and humidity cycling, altitude and decompression, vibration and shock (sine, random, sine-on-random, gunfire, SRS), acceleration and crash safety, sand and dust exposure, fluid susceptibility, waterproofness and blowing rain, salt fog, hydraulic and pneumatic load testing, ESS testing, icing, and battery testing. They also support ARINC 600 draw-through and blow-through temperature testing for avionics equipment. On the EMI side, ITL performs conducted emissions, induced signal susceptibility, RF conducted and radiated susceptibility, electrostatic discharge, lightning-induced transient susceptibility, power input testing, inrush current, current harmonics, and dielectric and insulation resistance testing. ITL also maintains a full design and machine shop for custom fixtures and tooling, allowing them to handle complex or non-standard test setups. The lab holds A2LA accreditation for both mechanical and electrical testing scopes.
