About

Intertek's Plano laboratory is a comprehensive EMC, product safety, and energy efficiency testing facility located at 1809 10th Street in Plano, Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The lab holds A2LA accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Certificate 2310.01, valid through September 2027), is recognized for FCC testing up to 40 GHz, and is also accredited under the U.S. EPA's ENERGY STAR program. The facility's EMC emissions capabilities are broad, with a 3-meter semi-anechoic chamber supporting radiated and conducted emissions testing to FCC Part 15B and Part 18, CISPR 11, CISPR 14-1, CISPR 15, CISPR 22, CISPR 32, and their EN, AS/NZS, Korean (KS C), Taiwanese (CNS), Israeli (SI 961), and VCCI equivalents. ICES-001, ICES-003, and ICES-005 are also covered. Intentional radiator testing supports FCC Part 15C and ISED Canada RSS-210 and RSS-247 up to 40 GHz. Current harmonics and flicker testing includes the higher-current IEC 61000-3-11 and 3-12 standards alongside the standard 3-2 and 3-3. The lab also performs magnetic emissions testing to IEC 62233 for human exposure assessment of household appliances. The immunity suite covers the core IEC 61000-4 tests — ESD (4-2), radiated RF (4-3), EFT/burst (4-4), surge (4-5), conducted immunity (4-6), power frequency magnetic field (4-8), and voltage dips and interruptions (4-11). Product-specific EMC accreditations span medical devices (IEC 60601-1-2 Ed. 4.1, including the new IEC TS 60601-4-2), laboratory equipment (IEC 61326 series including safety-related parts 3-1 and 3-2), ITE/telecom (CISPR 24, CISPR 35, EN 55024, EN 55035), household appliances (CISPR 14-2), lighting (IEC 61547), and generic light industrial and heavy industrial (IEC 61000-6-1 through 6-4). Where the Plano lab particularly stands out is product safety. Its medical device safety scope covers IEC 60601-1 through Edition 3.2 and over 25 particular standards in the 60601-2 and 80601-2 series, including the newer IEC 80601-2-78. The appliance safety scope is one of the most extensive in Intertek's network, covering IEC 60335-1 and over 50 particular -2 standards spanning everything from cooking ranges to commercial refrigeration to floor treatment machines — plus gas appliance safety testing to ANSI Z21.47 and Z83.8. Hazardous location (Ex) equipment certification is another notable capability, with accreditation across IEC 60079-0 and nine -subpart standards covering explosion-proof, pressurized, powder-filled, oil-immersed, increased safety, intrinsic safety, and dust ignition protection types. Additional safety accreditations cover ITE/audio-visual (IEC 62368-1), laboratory equipment (IEC 61010-1 and ten -2 particular standards), lighting luminaires (IEC 60598-1 and seventeen -2 particular standards plus IEC 62471 photobiological safety), automatic controls (IEC 60730 series), and Gulf States (GSO) standards.
