Fanshawe College's product testing facility uses leading-edge technologies and equipment to offer prototyping and testing capabilities, helping clients discover problems early in the design cycle to prevent potential field issues. They create realistic, custom test protocols based on the application to better predict product behaviour, and review designs based on test results to offer areas for product improvement. This is an academic/applied research lab — not an accredited commercial EMC certification lab. Its EMC capability is one part of a broader product testing offering that also covers thermal, mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing.

TÜV SÜD

Gormley, Ontario, Canada

TÜV SÜD Gormley is a NRTL/CB laboratory in the north end of Toronto, serving all of Canada for EMC and Electrical Safety. Their beginnings can be traced back to a small electrical safety lab in Markham and a sales and marketing office in Guelph, Ontario, working together to build one of the largest and most capable TIC labs in Canada. TÜV SÜD Gormley is one of the few labs in Canada to have two 3-meter chambers and other testing equipment for mechanical, environmental, power and electrical safety testing. TÜV SÜD Canada is accredited by SCC (Standards Council of Canada) as a Certification Body and Inspection Body, is an OSHA-recognized NRTL, and holds A2LA ISO 17025 accreditation for EMC testing. They are also recognized under the US-EU/EEA EFTA Mutual Recognition Agreement as a Conformity Assessment Body for both the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU.

Medical, IT, and automotive-adjacent

IEC 60601 and instrument work keep several Ontario calendars busy. IT and consumer products need dual ISED/FCC plots. Automotive and industrial suppliers along the 401 add CISPR-style module tests. A lab that can keep engineers on site after a fail is worth more than a mail-in scan with a two-week delay.

Booking in Ontario

Ask for SCC-recognized 17025 scope and whether ISED and FCC share a setup. Medical teams should ask 60601 questions even if the lab also does FCC. Door size matters for industrial cabinets coming off the 401. Compare Toronto-area lead times with Ottawa before you lock a design freeze.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about EMC testing in Ontario

Is Toronto the only Ontario EMC market?
It is the largest, but Ottawa and other Golden Horseshoe cities appear on listings. Read the chamber address, not the sales-office city.
Can Ontario labs run medical and FCC together?
Often yes. Keep the statements of work separate so accreditation scope stays clear.
