Glamox Opens New EMC-Equipped Laboratory and Research Facility in Poland
Glamox has opened a new 500-square-metre laboratory and research facility in Dobczyce, Poland, expanding the lighting manufacturer's product testing, research, and innovation capabilities across the group. The facility is located near Glamox's existing manufacturing site in Dobczyce, allowing engineers and compliance specialists to work more closely with product development teams.
The laboratory will serve as a central hub for product testing, research, and compliance verification across Glamox's product range, including professional building lighting and marine and naval lighting systems. It provides a controlled testing environment for some of the company's most demanding product categories, including luminaires designed for explosive atmospheres (Ex-rated) and marine lighting built to operate in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
A key feature of the new facility is a SAC-3 (semi-anechoic chamber, site-attenuation class 3) EMC chamber, enabling in-house electromagnetic compatibility and radio-related testing required under both the EU's EMC Directive and Radio Equipment Directive (RED). Bringing this capability in-house is intended to let Glamox accelerate product development, improve troubleshooting, and gain more direct control over final compliance assessments rather than relying solely on third-party labs.
The facility also holds CTF Stage 3 (Customer Testing Facility) status, allowing Glamox to carry out testing within the ENEC certification process in cooperation with external certification bodies. Beyond running its own tests, the lab coordinates external product certifications and performs internal conformity assessments across the organization.
"The investment in our new laboratory facility in Poland reflects Glamox's ongoing commitment to innovation, product quality and design," said Astrid Simonsen Joos, CEO of the Glamox Group. "By combining advanced technology, expanded capacity and closer proximity to our production operations, the new laboratory facility will enable us to further improve our research and development capabilities."
The lab opening follows Glamox's new Polish sales office in Kraków, opened in May 2026, continuing the company's broader investment in its Poland operations and European research and development footprint.
