Description
The Com-Power PAM-6000 is a low-noise wideband preamplifier covering 1 GHz to 6 GHz, designed to improve system sensitivity during radiated EMI emissions testing in the microwave frequency range. With 30 dB of gain and ±2 dB flatness across the full operating range, it compensates for the significant cable attenuation and increasing antenna factors that make measurements above 1 GHz particularly challenging — lifting weak emissions above the receiver noise floor where they can be reliably detected and measured.
Key specifications include a maximum noise figure of 5.7 dB, an output power of +13 dBm at 1 dB compression, a maximum RF input of +2 dBm, and 50 Ω N-type female connectors. Battery-powered operation via an internal 6V NiMH pack allows the unit to be positioned directly at the antenna, minimising front-end cable loss and improving signal-to-noise performance — particularly in 3-metre and 10-metre chamber setups where coaxial cable attenuation above 1 GHz can be substantial.
The PAM-6000 is well-suited for radiated emissions testing of wireless, high-speed digital, and consumer electronics products under CISPR 32, FCC Part 15, and automotive EMC standards. It is commonly used with double-ridged or standard gain horn antennas and works equally well with near-field probes during pre-compliance diagnostics. Physical dimensions are 19 × 13 × 7.6 cm (7.5″ × 5″ × 3″) with a weight of 1.13 kg (2.5 lbs). Each unit is individually calibrated and carries a three-year warranty.
