Description
The Langer EMV PA 203 SMA is a compact, lightweight preamplifier covering 100 kHz to 3 GHz, designed specifically for amplifying weak measuring signals from near-field probes with high spatial resolution during PCB-level EMC diagnostic work. With 20 dB of gain and a noise figure of 4.5 dB, it lifts near-field signals from traces, ICs, and power planes above the noise floor of a connected spectrum analyzer or oscilloscope — allowing emission sources to be identified and characterized during the development stage before formal compliance testing.
Key specifications include a -1 dB output compression point of 0 dBm, a maximum input power of +13 dBm, and a 50 Ω SMA connector at both input and output. The near-field probe connects via cable to the amplifier input, with the amplifier output connected directly to the 50 Ω input of the measurement instrument. An SMA variant (PA 203 SMA) and a BNC variant (PA 203 BNC) are available — both sharing the same electrical specifications. Power is supplied via a 12 VDC plug at 50 mA current draw.
The PA 203 SMA is exceptionally compact at 50 × 38 × 13 mm and weighs just 35 g, making it unobtrusive in hands-on probe scanning setups where minimising the physical footprint around the DUT is important.
