Description
The Schwarzbeck BBV 9718 D is a low-noise, low-power broadband microwave preamplifier with a nominal frequency range of 1 GHz to 18 GHz and a usable range of 500 MHz to 20 GHz, designed to increase sensitivity in field strength measurements and general attenuation characterization up to 18 GHz. With a typical gain of 30 dB (±5 dB), a noise figure of 2 dB, and a typical SWR of less than 2, it improves overall system sensitivity when placed directly at the antenna — minimising the impact of cable attenuation and receiver noise floor on measurements across the full microwave range.
A key differentiator of the BBV 9718 D is its built-in rechargeable 3.7V lithium cell, which enables approximately 8 hours of continuous operation without an external power supply — eliminating cable routing constraints and conducted noise from mains supplies in sensitive field measurement setups. A full charge via USB takes approximately 2 hours, making turnaround between measurement sessions straightforward. Key specifications include a maximum input power of -10 dBm (97 dBµV), 50 Ω N-type input and SMA output connectors, and a 22 mm mounting tube compatible with standard Schwarzbeck antenna mast systems for direct antenna-side mounting.
