R&S®ESL3
Discontinued
Description
The R&S ESL3 is a portable EMI test receiver covering 9 kHz to 3 GHz in both receiver and spectrum analyzer modes. It supports the full CISPR 16-1-1 detector set — quasi-peak, CISPR-average, CISPR-RMS, positive peak, negative peak, RMS, and average — with up to four detectors active simultaneously in receiver mode and analog bargraph displays running in parallel for each. The instrument accepts up to 10 scan subranges with individually configurable settings, and measurement time per frequency is adjustable from 50 µs to 100 s.Level measurement uncertainty is held below 0.3 dB absolute at the 65.83 MHz reference frequency, and total measurement uncertainty at 95% confidence is less than 0.5 dB across 10 MHz to 3 GHz (+20 °C to +30 °C).
The attenuator steps in 5 dB increments from 0 to 50 dB — coarser than current-generation R&S receivers — which is worth noting in applications requiring fine attenuation control. A tracking generator is available on model variant .13 (covering 1 MHz to 3 GHz), and an optional internal NiMH battery pack (FSL-B31, requires FSL-B30 DC supply option) enables untethered field use. Remote control is via LAN standard; GPIB is available through the FSL-B10 option.
