Description
The R&S ESR7 covers 9 kHz to 7 GHz on its primary input and 9 kHz to 1 GHz on a second independent RF input, both DC coupled. It shares the ESR3's chassis, detector complement, and 16-filter preselection architecture while extending the upper frequency limit to fully encompass CISPR band E. The preselection network — permanently on in receiver mode — spans from a fixed lowpass below 150 kHz through twelve fixed bandpass filters to a highpass stage above 1 GHz, with all filter switching handled automatically based on the tuned frequency.
The ESR7 delivers DANL of less than –152 dBm (normalized to 1 Hz) from 1 MHz to 1 GHz with the preamplifier off, improving to better than –165 dBm with the internal 20 dB preamplifier active. Total measurement uncertainty from 10 MHz to 3.6 GHz is 0.29 dB at 95% confidence (preselection off, +20 °C to +30 °C), rising to 0.39 dB from 3.6 GHz to 7 GHz — both warranted specifications in line with the ESR datasheet definitions. The optional ESR-B50 hardware board is required before the K53 time domain scan or K55 real-time analysis keys can be activated; with K53 installed, the ESR7 processes segments up to 30 MHz wide in parallel across the CISPR A–D bands and 10 MHz segments at 9 kHz RBW above 7 GHz.
