About
Elektrotechnicky zkusebni ustav, s.p. (EZU / Electrotechnical Testing Institute) is a Czech state enterprise founded in 1926 and celebrating its centenary in 2026, based at Pod lisem 129/2 in the Troja district of Prague 8 under the founding competence of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. It operates as EU Notified Body 1014, Czech Authorised Body 201, and CIA-accredited testing laboratory No. 1056 to CSN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 (current accreditation certificate 67/2026), alongside an accredited product and management system certification body and an accredited metrological laboratory. EZU joined the European CEE electrical safety scheme in 1961 and is the only IECEE CB Scheme certification authority in the Czech Republic; it is also an ETICS member entitled to operate the ENEC, ENEC+, HAR, CCA, CCA-EMC and KMK European schemes, and is commissioned to type-approve motor vehicles, their systems, components and separate technical units under EC and UNECE regulations using the Czech E8 mark. The EMC laboratory measures conducted disturbance from 9 kHz to 130 MHz across a range of artificial mains networks including motor vehicle accessory setups, radiated disturbance from 9 kHz to 18 GHz, disturbance power from 30 to 1000 MHz, and offers frequency analysis from 2 Hz to 22.5 GHz. Immunity coverage includes ESD, RF fields with various modulation schemes, conducted RF, fast transient bursts, surge, supply voltage fluctuation and interruption, mains effects (harmonics and flicker), magnetic field measurement, continuous magnetic fields and pulsed magnetic fields. The accredited scope is unusually deep and crosses several sectors in one building: generic and product-family EMC standards (EN 55011, 55014-1/-2, 55015, 55020, 55024, 55032, 55103-2, the EN 61000-3 and 61000-4 series, EN 61000-6-1 to -6-4), railway rolling stock and signalling (EN 50121-3-2, EN 50121-4, EN 50155, EN 50293), medical devices (EN 60601-1-2 editions 2 to 4 and a long list of 60601-2-xx particular standards), lifts (EN 12015/12016), drives (EN 61800-3), alarm systems (EN 50130-4), radio equipment (ETSI EN 301 489-1/-3, EN 300 220, EN 300 330, EN 300 339) and vehicle EMC (UNECE Regulation 10, 72/245/EEC). Environmental, IP ingress, flammability, acoustic noise, cable and electrical safety testing sit in the same accreditation, and equipment can be hired for customers to run their own tests on EZU premises under laboratory supervision.
