IDEMI, the Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments, is a Government of India society operating as an MSME Technology Centre under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, located on Swatantryaveer Tatya Tope Marg beside the Eastern Express Highway at Sion in Mumbai. It is NABL accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 under certificate CC-2287, ISO 9001:2015 certified and - unusually for an MSME institute - holds AS9100 Rev D aerospace accreditation. Its EMC laboratory sits inside a broad technology centre whose remit is to give small manufacturers access to facilities they could not justify alone, and the published EMC scope reflects that practical bent: immunity testing covering electrostatic discharge to 30 kV, electrical fast transient and burst from 0 to 4 kV, surge immunity from 0 to 7 kV, conducted RF susceptibility, magnetic field tests and voltage dips and variations to the IEC and EN 61000 series; and emission testing covering conducted emission from 150 kHz to 30 MHz, harmonic emission to the fortieth harmonic and flicker measurement. Product-specific work runs to the IEC and EN 61000-6 generic standards, IEC 61326-1 for measurement and control equipment, IEC 60601-1-2 for medical devices and the CISPR families. Around the EMC laboratory sit tool room services including precision machining, prototyping and 3D printing, a wide calibration operation spanning electro-technical, thermal, pressure, dimensional and fluid flow disciplines, safety, environmental, LED and pump testing, seismic and bump test facilities, and a substantial training programme. Specialisations are EMC for electrical measuring and control instruments, MSME manufacturer access to shared facilities, aerospace-accredited testing, calibration, and medical device EMC.
