About
IMQ is Italy's principal product conformity assessment organisation, operating for around seventy years from its Milan headquarters and laboratories on Via Marco Fabio Quintiliano, and the IMQ mark it issues is one of the longest-established safety marks in Europe. More than 10,000 companies have used it for product certification. Its electromagnetic compatibility laboratory forms part of a much larger testing estate - accredited sites at Milan (ACCREDIA registration 00013), Udine (00529) and Torino (00728), with additional facilities at Bollate, Treviso, San Vendemiano and Macerata - and that scale is the point: EMC measurement sits alongside electrical safety, performance and accelerated life testing, so a single submission can produce both the EMC evidence and the safety certification a product needs. EMC coverage comprises radiated and conducted emissions, mains harmonics, flicker, radio disturbance power and click analysis on the emission side, and radiated and conducted immunity, power-frequency magnetic field immunity, fast transient burst, surge, voltage dip and electrostatic discharge immunity on the immunity side. IMQ is a notified body for the principal EU directives, including the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, under which it issues EU type-examination certificates, and for the Radio Equipment Directive; it is accredited as a product certification body to ISO/IEC 17065 and as a testing laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025, and is an IECEE recognised certification body and CB testing laboratory at its Milano, Treviso and Macerata sites. It is additionally a notified body for the Medical Devices Regulation and IVDR. Specialisations are household and similar appliances, lighting, electrical installation material and switchgear, electromedical equipment, IT and multimedia products, and gas and energy-using appliances.
