About
LCIE - the Laboratoire Central des Industries Electriques, founded in 1882 and part of Bureau Veritas since 2001 - is one of the oldest electrical testing institutions in Europe, and its EMC laboratory at the Fontenay-aux-Roses headquarters south-west of Paris is among the most widely recognised in France. Capability spans conducted and radiated emission measurement, radiated and conducted immunity, harmonic current emission and flicker, indirect lightning effects and high intensity field testing, applied across the CISPR, IEC, EN, ETSI, FCC, ISO, MIL-STD, STANAG and French defence GAM EG13 standard families - a range that lets the same laboratory handle a household appliance, a radio module, a rail traction converter and a defence subsystem. What distinguishes LCIE is the breadth of its regulatory designations rather than any single chamber: it is a notified body under the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the Radio Equipment Directive, is recognised by IECEE within the OC-EMC certification scheme, is an FCC Listed laboratory for Part 15 and Part 18, and has been designated by the European Commission under the mutual recognition agreements covering the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand - so a single test campaign can be converted into market access across those jurisdictions without retesting. Sitting inside Bureau Veritas also gives the laboratory access to the group's electrical safety, ATEX, environmental and product certification capability. Specialisations are electrical installation material and switchgear, household and lighting products, connected and IoT devices, medical equipment, rail and automotive systems, and defence electronics.
