About
TUV Rheinland Italia runs the group's Italian testing estate from Pogliano Milanese on the north-western edge of Milan, with further offices at Bologna and Naples. The site is organised into five principal laboratories - chemical, electrical safety and environmental, EMC, mechanical and wireless - supplemented by automotive, wheel, solar and calibration facilities, and the EMC department operates two chambers, the second of which was inaugurated in December 2020. ACCREDIA accreditation covers roughly 350 test methods across the electrical, chemical, environmental, mechanical and EMC disciplines, which is what allows a product to be taken through EMC, safety, materials and chemical compliance under one accreditation umbrella rather than split between specialists. Regulatory reach is the other distinguishing feature: IECEE recognition covers household appliances, medical devices, photovoltaics, measuring equipment, EMC and IT and audio-video products for CB Scheme certification; designation by the German ZLS allows issue of the TUV GS Mark; designation by the German KBA covers automotive approval; and FCC and ISED recognition handles North American market access. The product range the laboratories serve is unusually wide - food contact materials, refrigeration and heating, electrical and radio equipment, large and small domestic appliances, furniture, textiles, toys, leisure products, renewable energy generation, and medical and electromedical devices, plus automotive and rail transport. Specialisations are domestic appliances and white goods, photovoltaics and renewable generation, medical and electromedical equipment, wireless products, and consumer goods for retail programmes.
