About
The EMC testing laboratory of Vojensky technicky ustav, s.p. (VTU / Military Technical Institute), a Czech state enterprise, was established in 1993 and is one of the longest-operating EMC facilities in the Czech Republic. It sits within the VTUPV branch - the Military Technical Institute of Ground Forces - at Vita Nejedleho 691 in Vyskov-Dedice, and forms part of CIA-accredited testing laboratory No. 1103 under CSN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The laboratory performs both accredited and non-accredited emissions (EMI) and immunity (EMS) work for the Czech Armed Forces and for commercial customers, and is organised into an electromagnetic radiation laboratory, an electromagnetic immunity laboratory, an equipment technical testing laboratory covering automotive transient pulses, UNECE lighting regulations, batteries and vehicle electrics, a development workplace for high-power electromagnetic pulse testing, and a climatic laboratory. Its military specialization has produced equipment that is genuinely uncommon in the region: radiated emissions measurement from 20 Hz to 40 GHz, a large semi-anechoic chamber with a 10 m measurement distance able to accept objects as large as buses and tanks, a reverberation chamber for very high field strengths, and NEMP and UWB high-power electromagnetic pulse simulators. RF immunity was extended with 500 W amplifiers for 1-3 GHz and 350 W for 3-6 GHz feeding a DRH370 dual-ridged horn, giving 250-300 V/m from 1 to 3 GHz and 150-200 V/m from 3 to 6 GHz in the ISO 11452-2 configuration, which brings wireless-band requirements in EN 60601-1-2, EN 50121-3-2 and ISO 11452-2 within reach. Beyond standard EMC tests the laboratory measures electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of rooms, cabinets, containers, enclosures, cables and materials, and its climatic chambers cover dry and damp heat, cold, constant and cyclic humidity, rapid temperature change and condensation to automotive and military profiles, plus salt mist. Railway vehicle testing - including whole coaches - and automotive accessory testing are both routine. VTU also operates Notified Body 2452, and the wider Vyskov site adds electrical safety, mechanical, seismic and vehicle testing.
