Element Expands Wireless Testing Capabilities and North American Capacity Following CETECOM Acquisition
Element Materials Technology has expanded its wireless testing capabilities and increased its North American capacity following its recent acquisition of CETECOM Inc.
The move strengthens Element’s position as a single-source testing and certification partner for manufacturers developing connected wireless products. The expanded offering is designed to help companies simplify compliance and accelerate approvals across regulatory, industry, and carrier requirements, including FCC, ISED, CE, PTCRB, GCF, CTIA, Wi-Fi Alliance, WPC, and U.S. carrier programs.
The expanded portfolio includes CTIA Over-the-Air antenna performance testing, passive antenna measurements, advanced 5G location performance testing, Non-Terrestrial Network testing, and support for emerging 5G technologies such as RedCap and eRedCap.
Element has also expanded its Wi-Fi interoperability and Wireless Power Transfer capabilities. The company says it is now the only Wi-Fi Alliance Authorized Test Laboratory in North America accredited to conduct integrated WPA3-R2 security testing across Wi-Fi 4 through Wi-Fi 7. This gives manufacturers a more streamlined route to certification and regulatory approval through a single provider.
The company has also added Qi certification capability in the Americas, making it the only Wireless Power Consortium Approved Test Laboratory in North America. This allows wireless charging product manufacturers to complete both testing and certification under one roof, reducing shipping complexity, lowering supply chain risk, and helping shorten time to market.
Element says the additions, combined with broader wireless coexistence capacity, enhance its ability to support customers across the full wireless compliance journey, from regulatory and industry approvals to U.S. carrier certification.
“With the acquisition of CETECOM Inc., we have significantly expanded our wireless testing capabilities and now offer one of the largest wireless and cellular device testing footprints in North America,” said RJ Ortanez, Vice President Cellular, Connected Technologies & Mobility for Element. “That scale, combined with our technical depth, enables us to help customers around the world navigate growing complexity, meet evolving certification requirements and bring products to market faster and with greater confidence.”
The expansion comes as connected devices, IoT products, 5G technologies, Wi-Fi 7, wireless charging, and carrier approval requirements continue to grow in complexity. By combining CETECOM’s wireless expertise with Element’s broader testing, inspection, and certification network, the company is positioning itself to support manufacturers through increasingly demanding product compliance pathways.
