TDK Electronics Marks Milestone for New EMC Laboratory in Regensburg
TDK Electronics has reached a key construction milestone at its new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laboratory in Regensburg, Germany, marking the occasion with a traditional topping-out ceremony attended by roughly 50 guests. The event brought together representatives from the architectural firm, participating construction companies, and the City of Regensburg's Economic Development Office.
The topping-out ceremony — a longstanding European construction tradition marking the completion of a building's structural framework — served both as a formal thank-you to the tradespeople involved and as a preview of what the facility promises to deliver. Interior work is now underway, and the laboratory remains on track for an official opening later this year.
"I am very pleased that we are able to celebrate the topping-out ceremony for our new EMC laboratory here today. The interior work is also progressing well, so I am confident that we will be able to officially open the laboratory this fall."
— Dr. Stefan Weber, Project Manager, TDK Electronics
The laboratory will operate under TDK's Magnetics Business Group and is designed to function as a central hub for resolving EMC challenges in close collaboration with customers. Its primary focus areas are automotive electronics and industrial applications — two sectors where electromagnetic interference can carry significant safety and reliability consequences.
As regulatory demands around electromagnetic compatibility continue to intensify — particularly in electric vehicles and smart industrial systems — dedicated in-house testing infrastructure represents a competitive advantage. The Regensburg facility is expected to accelerate development cycles by allowing TDK and its customers to identify and resolve EMC issues earlier in the product design process.
