About
BICON Laboratories was founded in early 1995 by two electrical engineers, Frank Engelen and Frank de Kleuver, and works from Waterdijk in Helmond, in the North Brabant technology belt east of Eindhoven. It was formerly part of the ACAL group. Its accreditation and designation set is one of the most complete held by an independent European laboratory: ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the Dutch Accreditation Council under registration L353, approval from the RDW Approval Authority Certification Unit under RDW-99050036 for Dutch vehicle type approval work, FCC registration 191177, and designation as a Conformity Assessment Body by the Netherlands Radiocommunications Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs under NL0006. The facility runs to more than 12,000 square feet of measurement space and the chamber inventory is unusually varied for a laboratory of this size: an open area test site, a reverberation chamber, and multiple semi-anechoic and fully anechoic chambers of different sizes, the largest of which accommodates a passenger car or small truck. Conducted and radiated measurement reaches 40 GHz, and immunity testing also extends to 40 GHz at field strengths up to 200 V/m - a combination of upper frequency and field strength that very few commercial laboratories can offer together. The site is organised into named areas: a Radiation Lab, a High Voltage Corner for low voltage directive work, an Acoustics lab, a Conducted Lab and a dedicated Debug Facility. Beyond compliance testing it offers CE certification, EMC management, consultancy, troubleshooting, electromagnetic visualisation, research projects, training and production conformity testing, and covers automotive e and E-marking to UN Regulation 10 revision 07 along with maritime, aerospace and military requirements. Industries served are industrial control, information technology, LED lighting, laboratory and medical equipment, automotive, maritime, aerospace and military. Specialisations are vehicle-scale chamber testing, 40 GHz immunity at up to 200 V/m, reverberation chamber work, EM visualisation and EMC troubleshooting.
