Cincoze Launches External EMC Protection Module for Industrial Computers
Rugged edge computing manufacturer Cincoze has introduced a new external EMC protection accessory for its industrial computer lineup, taking a different approach from the built-in EMC designs typically used across the sector.
The new Power Protection Module (PPM) ships in two power ratings — the 360W PPM-I360 and the 180W PPM-I180 — and is sold separately as an optional add-on rather than built into a computer at purchase. Each module attaches to a compatible Cincoze unit using a slide-rail mounting system, letting it be secured and wired in without modifying the host computer’s internal design.
The PPM is built to suppress and filter Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) interference at the power input, addressing a common source of disruption on industrial floors: the rapid electrical transients generated when switches, relays, and motors start, stop, or switch states nearby. Left unaddressed, that noise can produce communication errors, erratic signals, and unexpected reboots in connected computers — faults that translate directly into downtime on a production line.
The PPM-I180 is designed for Cincoze’s entry-level to mid-range Rugged Embedded Computers, covering the DA, DC, and DI Series, while the higher-capacity PPM-I360 is matched to the company’s high-performance DV, DX, and DS Series computers as well as its GM Series MXM GPU computer. Cincoze says the modules are built to meet the immunity requirements of the EN/IEC 61000-6-2 and EN/IEC 61000-6-4 EMC standards, and that it plans to expand the PPM lineup further to address EMC requirements across additional vertical industries.
By decoupling EMC hardening from the base unit, Cincoze is positioning the PPM as a way for integrators in smart manufacturing and industrial automation to scale protection to the electrical conditions of a specific site, rather than over- or under-specifying EMC protection at the time of purchase.
