About
The Chair of Electromagnetic Compatibility (Fachgebiet Elektromagnetische Vertraeglichkeit) at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sven Boenisch, offers its EMC laboratory to industry through the university's technology transfer route. It is based on the Senftenberg campus at Universitaetsplatz 1 in room 14E.502 and covers the EMC testing relevant to CE certification of devices and installations, working either on finished equipment in the laboratory, alongside development, or on the customer's own site. This is a university research group rather than a commercial accredited test house - no ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is published - so the natural fit is development-phase measurement, interference analysis, EMC optimisation of systems and EMC- and RF-aware circuit and assembly design, alongside consultancy on any EMC question. Named product-standard capability covers welding equipment (EN 60974-10), electrical measurement, control and laboratory equipment (EN 61326-1, -2-1, -2-2 and -2-6) and medical electrical equipment (EN 60601-1-2). Published measurement capability runs to electromagnetic fields from DC to 18 GHz at up to 100 V/m for both emission and immunity, disturbance voltages from 9 kHz to 30 MHz on the emission side and 0.1 Hz to 80 MHz on the immunity side, harmonic currents and voltages, flicker, voltage dips and interruptions, ESD to 15 kV, burst to 4 kV and surge to 4 kV. The equipment list is where a university lab shows its character: standard-compliant test benches for conducted and radiated disturbances sit alongside a 7.30 x 3.90 x 2.70 m mode-stirred reverberation chamber, an MEB GTEM 1250 cell, a Spitzenberger & Spies EMV D 15000/PAS three-phase mains simulator, a four-wire 230/400 V 63 A LISN covering 9 kHz to 30 MHz, a Rohde & Schwarz ESU measuring receiver spanning 20 Hz to 26.5 GHz, various network and spectrum analysers, a NARDA SRM-3006 field strength meter with E- and H-field probes, and a dedicated bench for characterising power semiconductors at 1,000 V and 300 A - the last being a genuinely distinctive capability for anyone working on power electronics EMI at source.
