About
Element U.S. Space & Defense is an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited EMC and EMI testing and engineering organization with a network of laboratories described as the largest EMI testing lab network in North America. The company has operated for nearly 50 years and holds Verizon Independent Test Laboratory recognition under the NEBS program. It is a division of Element Materials Technology and serves the defense, space, aerospace, and telecommunications industries. Customers include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, L3 Communications, General Electric, Eaton Aerospace, Aerojet Rocketdyne, the US Department of Defense, ViaSat, and United Technologies. EMC/EMI testing capabilities include harmonics and flicker, EFT, voltage dips and interrupts, electrical surge, radiated susceptibility up to 200 V/m (10 kHz to 40 GHz), magnetic susceptibility (DC to 100 kHz), HIRF testing (400 MHz to 18 GHz), mode-tuned and mode-stirred chamber testing, and indirect lightning testing (to 10 kV/10 kA, multiple stroke, multiple burst, and single stroke per SAE ARP 5416, DO-160, Airbus, and Boeing specifications). ESD testing covers a wide range of network models up to ±30 kV contact and air discharges, 300 kV vertical lift simulation, and P-static discharges. Chamber infrastructure includes 3-meter and 10-meter listed semi-anechoic chambers as well as 40' × 40' × 20' semi-anechoic chambers for military and aerospace applications, TEM cells, and strip line cells. NEBS/telecom/ITE compliance testing covers GR-1089-CORE and RBOC supplements (Verizon and AT&T), acoustic noise, bonding and grounding, DC power characteristics, and energy efficiency (TEER). International market approvals supported include FCC, CE (EN 61000-4-x series, CISPR 32/35, EN 55024), MIL-STD-461/462/464, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399 Section 300, RTCA DO-160, VCCI, BSMI, Korea MIC, IC ICES-003, IEEE C37.90.1/C37.90.2, ETSI EN 301 489, and AS/NZS CISPR 22. EMC/EMI engineering services include Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) test and analysis of systems and platforms, EMC control plans, product design review and compliance risk assessments, EMI/EMC design hardening, pre-compliance testing, troubleshooting and mitigation, requirements gap analysis, and test plan and procedure development. All engineering work is supported by NARTE-certified engineers.
