About
EMC Japan Corp. was founded in 1989 and works from Nagatake in Midori-ku, Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, with further test sites at Sagamihara and at Kariya in Aichi - its site numbering runs at least to an eleventh test site, which gives a sense of how the capacity is distributed. It is accredited by NVLAP, the United States National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program, as both an EMC test laboratory and a calibration body, under lab codes 200584-0 for the head office and 201066-0 for Kariya, and is VCCI-registered for conducted emission and for field strength measurement at both 3 metres and 10 metres. Its equipment list is the most distinctive in Japan on this directory. It operates a reverberation chamber reaching 3,000 V/m, with more than ten years of experience since being the first to introduce the method domestically - a technique that excites a mode-stirred cavity to produce statistically uniform high fields without the antenna positioning a conventional chamber requires. It has an EMP facility rated to 50 kV/m, described as the first of its kind in Japan. A 144 kVA stabilised high-power supply feeds a large anechoic chamber whose access door measures 3 metres wide by 3.5 metres high, so heavy industrial and vehicle-scale equipment can be driven at full load. A further anechoic chamber is built to cleanroom grade, meeting US FED-STD-209D class 100,000, for precision equipment that cannot tolerate particulate contamination during test. Test fixtures are designed and built in-house by its development department, and its measurement software, both automated and manual, is written in-house. Market reach includes UN ECE Regulation 10 and E-marking with VCA engineers present at issuance, FCC Part 15 Subpart B and Part 18 reports, appointment as a BSMI EMC laboratory for Taiwan covering CNS 13438, CNS 15936, CNS 13803 and CNS 13783-1, EN 45501 and OIML reports through NMi for measuring instruments, and status as a certified Mazda test laboratory since 2005. It is ISO/IEC 27001 certified under registration IS 803365. Specialisations are reverberation chamber testing, EMP and high-field immunity, high-power and cleanroom-grade chamber work, and defence, aviation and space EMC.
