SGS Expands Vietnam Laboratory Network, Adds New EMC Testing Services in Hai Phong

Published 2 min read•news

SGS has expanded its testing laboratory network in Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Vietnam, relocating and expanding its Hai Phong Softlines laboratory while introducing new EMC testing services at the site. The expansion is part of a broader growth strategy strengthening SGS’s presence in Northern Vietnam, supporting the country’s growing manufacturing sector.

The Hai Phong facility, located in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, was originally established in 2005, with further network expansions in 2011, 2016, and now 2026. The site spans roughly 3,700 square meters and employs more than 290 staff. Notably, it’s the first SGS project in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve EDGE Green Building Certification.

The new EMC laboratory at Hai Phong launched in June 2026, with EMC accreditation currently in progress. EMC testing capabilities span multiple service lines at the facility: the Electronics division offers EMC testing to international and local standards alongside safety testing and certification, while the Hardlines division provides EMC/FCC testing specifically for toys and juvenile products.

The expanded Hai Phong site operates as an integrated testing hub spanning several service areas, including Softlines (textiles, footwear, bags, and home textiles), Hardlines (toys, juvenile products, and candles), Electronics (safety and EMC testing for electrical and electronic products, household appliances, and multimedia products), and a central chemical laboratory covering chemical and environmental compliance.

All facilities operate under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Additional accreditations include US CPSC and ZDHC Accepted Laboratory status for Softlines, US CPSC and Japan Food Sanitation Law compliance for Hardlines, and IECEE CB Scheme Testing Laboratory status for Electronics safety testing.
