About
The Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory CEIA S.p.A - LACE is the in-house test laboratory of CEIA S.p.A, the Italian metal-detection and induction-heating manufacturer, at Strada Provinciale di Pescaiola 52-52/A in Civitella in Val di Chiana near Arezzo, Tuscany. It began measurement activities in 1987 supporting CEIA's own electronic instrument production for domestic and foreign markets, then expanded its infrastructure and scope to meet EMC and CE-marking regulatory requirements, and now operates as an accredited third-party laboratory. Its recognition history is long: in 1994 CEIA was recognised as a Highly Qualified Laboratory by the Italian Ministry of University, Technological and Scientific Research; it has been ISO 9001 certified by IMQ since 1996 (certificate 9115.CEI3); in 1998 the laboratory was recognised by the Ministry of Communication as a Competent Body for Electromagnetic Compatibility; and from 2007 to 2012 it held EMC Notified Body status (Notified Body number 2046). It is accredited by ACCREDIA as Testing Laboratory 01402 to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and covered by the ILAC MRA, with accreditation extended in 2023 to walkthrough metal detector performance testing - a capability that follows directly from CEIA's own product line and is close to unique in a public EMC directory. The laboratory serves four activity areas: electromagnetic compatibility testing, human exposure to electromagnetic fields testing, radio equipment testing, and performance tests on walkthrough metal detectors (WTMD). Product categories covered include electrical and electronic equipment for residential and industrial environments, scientific and medical industrial equipment, information and multimedia technology equipment, home appliances, lighting equipment and telecommunication and military equipment. The published test list covers radiated and conducted disturbance measurement, harmonic current emissions, voltage variations, fluctuations and flicker, ESD, radiated field immunity, EFT/burst, surge, conducted RF immunity, network frequency magnetic field immunity, and voltage dips, short interruptions and variations. Tests support the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU for CE marking, and can be run to CEI, EN, IEC, FCC, ANSI, ETSI and MIL standards.
