About
IPS Corporation was established on 1 June 1992 and runs its Nagano EMC Center at Ono in Tatsuno, Kamiina district, Nagano Prefecture, and it holds a place in Japanese EMC history: the Japan Accreditation Board accredited it in September 1997 under accreditation number RTL00010 as the first EMC test laboratory accredited in Japan, and customers describe using it since its open-area test site days more than thirty years ago. It added VLAC certificate VLAC-015 for medical electrical equipment safety testing in September 2015, again the first such accreditation issued, and it is VCCI-registered for conformity confirmation testing under registration A-0103. Its calibration laboratories are NVLAP-accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 under two separate codes - 200012-0 at the Nagano Calibration Center for antennas and immunity test equipment, and 200679-0 at the Tokyo Calibration Center for receivers, spectrum analysers, signal generators and field probes - which means the laboratory calibrates its own reference chain under US accreditation rather than sending it out. EMI measurement extends to 40 GHz, covering both FCC and Radio Equipment Directive requirements. The accredited standards list is the broadest of any Japanese laboratory here and is deepest in two areas. Medical is the first: IEC/EN 60601-1-2 plus roughly fourteen particular standards from 60601-2-2 through 60601-2-52, the ISO 80601-2-55, -2-56 and -2-61 series, IEC 80601-2-30, and the IEC 61326-2-6 in vitro diagnostics standard, all with JIS equivalents. Marine is the second: CISPR 11 for shipboard electrical installations, IEC 60945, IEC 60533, IACS UR E10 and the rules of ten classification societies - NK, LR, ABS, BV, DNV, GL, RINA, CCS, KR and RS. Beyond those it covers multimedia, IT, radio, lighting, household appliance, airborne DO-160G and gas detection scopes, human exposure assessment to IEC 62233 and 62311, harmonics and flicker including 61000-3-11 and -3-12, and the less common IEC 61000-4-13, -4-16, -4-17 and -4-29 immunity tests. A Shinyokohama Safety Center at Yokohama handles product safety. Specialisations are medical electrical equipment EMC and safety, marine classification society approval, EMI to 40 GHz, and accredited in-house calibration.
