About

The Iwate Industrial Research Institute is a local incorporated administrative agency of Iwate Prefecture at Kitaiioka in Morioka, in northern Honshu, and its Monozukuri Innovation Center - opened in April 2018 - houses what the institute describes as one of the largest EMC test facilities in the Tohoku region. The EMC Evaluation Lab is built around a large 10-metre method anechoic chamber for emission measurement to international standards, a separate multi-purpose anechoic chamber used for immunity testing and for automotive and in-vehicle equipment, and three shielded rooms dedicated respectively to EMI, EMS and automotive work. That separation matters in a public facility: emissions, immunity and vehicle testing can run concurrently for different companies rather than competing for one room. Because this is a prefectural technical support institute rather than a commercial laboratory, the access model differs from the rest of this directory - companies can commission testing, rent equipment and use the chambers themselves, with technical consultation, joint research and development and staff training offered alongside, and the facility exists to serve electronics manufacturers and developers within Iwate Prefecture in particular. The Monozukuri Innovation Center pairs the EMC lab with a 3D manufacturing lab running two metal additive manufacturing systems with different heat sources, a new materials lab for composite development, and an IoT lab for device prototyping, evaluation and smart-factory research using IoT and robotics - so a connected product can be prototyped, built and EMC-evaluated on one site. No laboratory accreditation is published, so it is recorded here without an accreditation entry; accreditation status should be confirmed directly if a report is needed for a regulated conformity assessment route. Specialisations are large 10-metre method emission measurement, automotive and in-vehicle equipment EMC, and combined prototyping with EMC evaluation for regional manufacturers.
