About

The Korea Testing and Research Institute, KTR, has its headquarters on Gyoyukwon-ro in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is a KOLAS-accredited national testing body and a designated conformity assessment institute for broadcasting and communications equipment under the National Radio Research Agency, with EMC testing under KOLAS certification standard 03.011. Its EMC capability is published in more technical detail than any other Korean laboratory in this directory. The main asset is a 10-metre radiation chamber measuring 19.8 by 12.2 by 9.1 metres, covering 150 kHz to 18 GHz, with a 3-metre turntable rated to 3 tonnes and an antenna mast travelling from 1 to 4 metres. Around it sits an instrument set aimed squarely at defence and aerospace: a lightning induction tester with multiple-stroke, single-stroke and multiple-burst generators for indirect lightning testing on aircraft; M-CS115 and POG-CS116-6 pulse generators at 2 kV and 15 kV charging voltage over 10 kHz to 100 MHz; an EFG-03 E-field generator at 3.5 kW from 10 kHz to 100 MHz; HPBA-2510 broadband and VAL-8001 log-periodic antennas; and a PAS30000 power simulation system supplying 135 or 270 V AC under 125 A and DC to 5 kHz. Most distinctive of all are EMP pulse generators - EMP80K-5/500 and EMP300K-5/500 - producing 10 to 80 kV and 100 to 350 kV open-circuit voltage, used for EMP protection facility verification to MIL-STD-188-125-1 and -2, the Korean defence standard DMFC 4-40-70 and IEEE 299 and 299.1 shielding effectiveness. Beyond defence it covers automotive to CISPR, IEC, ECE, SAE and ISO plus manufacturer specifications, railway to the EN 50121 and IEC 62236 series, ships to IEC 60945 and 60533 with KR, DNV and Lloyd's Register classification standards, and home and industrial equipment to KN 15, KN 61547, EN 12015 and EN 12016 lift standards, EN 61800-3 and KS C IEC 62040-2 for UPS. Specialisations are EMP protection facility verification, aircraft lightning induction testing, 3-tonne turntable large-equipment measurement, and marine classification EMC.
