About
RUAG AG's EMC Test Center at Allmendstrasse 86, 3602 Thun (Bern), is one of the most capable large-format EMC and systems-level test facilities in Switzerland, directly descending from the Swiss Federal Munitions Factory and specialising in defence, aerospace, and complex system EMC. Accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) under accreditation number STS 0050, and certified to ISO 9001, the test center is staffed by personnel security-cleared per Swiss federal regulations for access to classified information, materials, and facilities. The facility is distinguished by its ability to test objects up to 75 tonnes — including armoured vehicles, aircraft subsystems, ships, and military ground station equipment — with filtered feedthroughs up to 1 000 V and 400 A and full 400 Vac three-phase 250 A/phase power supply. Testing covers radiated and conducted emission and immunity to civilian standards (SN/EN/ISO/CISPR/IEC), military standards (MIL-STD, VG standards, AECTP, DEF-STAN partially), and customer-specific deviating test methods. Additional capabilities include RF shielding effectiveness testing and non-ionising radiation (NIR) personal safety assessment. RUAG also provides consulting on standard and limit value selection, EMC test plan writing, pass/fail criteria definition, and full life-cycle EMC support from concept through operation.
