About
SIQ, the Slovenian Institute of Quality and Metrology, works from Masera-Spasiceva ulica in Ljubljana as an independent, impartial not-for-profit institution. Its testing and measurement work goes back to 1964, in the Sector for Measurements and Quality of the Institute for Automation, and SIQ itself was founded at the end of 1992 as successor to the Institute of Quality and Metrology, under a contract signed by the Government of Slovenia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iskra Holding, Gorenje, Triglav Insurance and IKM; it holds Slovenia's national measurement standards for electric quantities and for time and frequency. Its Safety and Electromagnetics unit is accredited by Slovenian Accreditation to SIST EN ISO/IEC 17025 under number LP-009, is a recognised CB Testing Laboratory in the IECEE system, is EU Notified Body number 1304 for both the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the Radio Equipment Directive, is recognised by ISED Canada as a Wireless Device Testing Laboratory under company number 21434, and is accredited for FCC rules 15.225, 15.247, 15.249 and 15.407. It issues UN-ECE R10 approvals under three E-marks - E25, E26 and E57. The facility list is a semi-anechoic chamber at 3 metres, a 10-metre open area test site, a reverberation chamber used for ISO 11452-11 across 200 MHz to 6 GHz, and an absorber-lined shielded enclosure for ISO 11452-2. Published limits are specific: radiated emissions from 9 kHz to 40 GHz; radiated immunity to 6 GHz at 30 V/m and to 600 V/m for ISO 11452-2; ESD at 20 kV contact and 30 kV air; burst at 5.5 kV and surge at 5 kV, both to 63 A per phase; AC supply to four times 400 A per phase through an artificial mains network at 400 V phase-to-ground and 700 V phase-to-phase; DC to 400 A per line at 1,000 V; and magnetic fields of 100 A/m continuous and 1,000 A/m short duration. The immunity scope is among the most current anywhere in this directory, including IEC 61000-4-41 for 4G and 5G broadband immunity, -4-39 proximity fields, -4-19 differential mode, and -4-12, -4-16, -4-18, -4-29 and -4-34, with IEC TS 60601-4-2:2024 for medical devices, EN 50592 for railways, EN 61851-21-2 for EV charging and ANSI C63.27-2021 for wireless coexistence. Automotive work runs to the OEM methods of Volkswagen, BMW, Daimler, Volvo and Renault-Nissan. Specialisations are high-current and high-voltage EMC, medical 4G and 5G broadband immunity, automotive OEM methods, wireless coexistence, EMF exposure measurement from 0 Hz to 18 GHz, shielding efficiency measurement and on-site testing.
