About
CSA Group Bayern GmbH operates CSA Group's European Center of Excellence at Straubinger Strasse 100 in Plattling, Bavaria - a 12,280 m2 facility staffed by almost 200 qualified experts, mainly engineers and technicians. The Bavarian business was formed from the 2011 acquisitions of mikes-testingpartners GmbH and emitel GmbH, both then based in Strasskirchen, and grew through a decade of chamber construction there before consolidating into the purpose-built Plattling campus; CSA Group describes it as one of the largest EMC test facilities in Europe. The defining capability is scale: an 8-metre turntable rated to a maximum weight of 25 tonnes with a 400 V / 200 A mains supply, allowing passenger cars of all sizes and large industrial equipment to be tested at full size. The predecessor Strasskirchen estate had reached 7,260 m2 across 17 shielded rooms and 7 anechoic chambers before the move. Accreditation and recognition are exceptionally broad for a single site and cover both sides of the Atlantic: DAkkS accreditation to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, EU Notified Body status for the EMC Directive, the Radio Equipment Directive and the Measuring Instruments Directive, IECEE CB Scheme recognition as a CB Testing Laboratory (EMC, OFF, TRON, TOOLS, SAFE, MEAS) and IECEx, OSHA NRTL, Standards Council of Canada, ANSI National Accreditation Board, FCC, ISED Canada, VCCI Japan, Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt Technical Service, SNCH Luxembourg and Taiwan's Vehicle Safety Certification Center. Services extend well beyond EMC and radio into safety testing and certification for gas-fired and electrical appliances, power tools, IT, audio/video and office products, medical devices and industrial equipment; battery and energy storage testing covering cells and packs with cycling, explosion, transportation and environmental simulation tests; energy efficiency verification for external power supplies and battery chargers against North American requirements and the EU Ecodesign Directive; environmental simulation; hazardous locations work for ATEX, UKCA, IECEx and North American certification; measuring instruments including smart meters and e-charging stations under the MID and German calibration law; and global market access services reaching more than 140 markets.
