About
ELMAC GmbH EMV-Labor J. Buehne is an independent EMC test laboratory at Boschstrasse 2 in Bondorf, Baden-Wuerttemberg, active in EMC testing since its founding in 1990 and accredited since 1993 - originally by the Deutscher Akkreditierungsrat (DAR) and maintained continuously since, with re-assessment by DAkkS for EMC and by the Zentralstelle der Laender fuer Gesundheitsschutz (ZLG) for medical technology. The ZLG involvement is worth noting: medical device EMC accreditation in Germany runs through ZLG rather than DAkkS alone, and ELMAC holds both. Since 2001 it has been a KBA-designated Technical Service, performing E1 type approval testing and handling the approval of vehicle components with the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt. Testing stations comprise two absorber halls with 1 m and 3 m measurement distances covering emission and immunity to 6 GHz, an open-area test site with a 10 m measurement distance, a conducted emissions station covering AC, DC, telecommunication lines and load connections from 9 kHz to 30 MHz, and two shielded rooms for conducted immunity. Published limits are specific and honest about their constraints: surge to 4 kV and voltage dips and interruptions are single-phase only, as are the two harmonics and flicker stations; burst reaches 4 kV, conducted RF runs 10 kHz to 230 MHz, ESD to 30 kV, and power-frequency magnetic field immunity is standard to 30 A/m. BCI covers 2 MHz to 250 MHz, there is an automotive station for conducted transient immunity (pulses), near-field radiated immunity from 30 kHz to 13.56 MHz, and conducted asymmetric immunity from 0 Hz to 150 kHz. Recent accreditation additions cover IEC 61000-4-16, EN 60601-1-2:2015+A1:2021 (IEC 60601-1-2 Ed. 4.1) and EN 61000-4-39:2017, with non-accredited testing offered to ETSI EN 300 220-3. Product groups covered include industrial and scientific measurement and control equipment, medical technology, IT equipment, household appliances and hand-held power tools, automotive electrical/electronic sub-assemblies (EUB), lighting, and EMVU environmental field measurement. A customer workshop area is provided so clients can make small modifications and repairs to their equipment on site.
